The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3 is adding three major new names to its cast.
Aimee Garcia, Raul Castillo, and Jimmi Simpson will join the series when the new season premieres on Sunday, July 26. The latest teaser offered fans a better look at the new arrivals and the roles they will play in the story.
Garcia will play Renata, the leader of a new group that appears set to cross paths with Maggie and Negan. Showrunner Seth Hoffman described Renata as a family matriarch with a history involving the Croat.
Garcia is known for her work on Lucifer, Dexter, and Criminal Minds: Evolution. Her role in Dead City gives the series another strong presence as the fight for Manhattan continues.
Castillo will play Luis, Renata’s brother. His character is expected to become an important ally as Maggie and Negan continue their mission in the city.
Luis is also a doctor, which could make him a valuable figure in the season. Hoffman noted that Luis will have an important connection with Hershel, who begins to show interest in medicine and follows a path similar to his grandfather’s.
Castillo has appeared in Army of the Dead, Riverdale, and Task. His past work in zombie storytelling should make his role in Dead City especially interesting for fans.
Simpson will play Dillard, another new survivor tied to Maggie and Negan’s journey. Hoffman described Dillard as someone who found a clever way to survive alone, but at a psychological price.
Simpson is known for roles in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Westworld, Black Mirror, and Dark Matter. His character may bring a different type of energy to Dead City, with the teaser suggesting a mix of humor and instability.
