Rhodes wants to captain Team USA against Mysterio’s Team Mexico
Summary
– Cody Rhodes challenged Rey Mysterio to a Team USA vs. Team Mexico match
– Rhodes volunteered to lead the American team at Survivor Series
– Mysterio previously pitched a traditional five-on-five elimination match
Cody Rhodes has challenged Rey Mysterio to bring their proposed Team USA vs. Team Mexico match to Survivor Series. Rhodes made the offer after defeating Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing Match at Crown Jewel.
Speaking during the event’s post-show, Rhodes said he wanted a fun competition and volunteered to captain Team USA. He also challenged Mysterio directly to make the match happen.
Rey had previously shared the idea on Stephanie McMahon’s podcast, saying he had spoken with Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis about organizing a traditional five-on-five Survivor Series match. Mysterio plans to lead Team Mexico.
Rhodes’ offer gives both sides a potential captain, with the next question being who they will recruit. WWE has not announced the match or revealed any team members.
Rhodes made the challenge after surviving a punishing match with Orton. He endured tables, weapons, and an RKO before using Orton’s own Punt Kick to keep him down for the ten-count.
Now Cody wants to follow that battle by leading Team USA against Mysterio’s squad. If WWE makes the match official, the captains will have to build their teams for a classic Survivor Series showdown.
