Cody Rhodes and Gunther headline WWE SmackDown preview with tournament matches before Night of Champions

WWE SmackDown Preview For June 19

Cody Rhodes defends against Gunther as tournaments continue before Night of Champions

Summary

– WWE SmackDown on June 19 will feature Cody Rhodes defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against Gunther

– Charlotte Flair faces Liv Morgan in a Queen of the Ring semifinal match

– Jey Uso battles Je’Von Evans in a King of the Ring semifinal match

WWE SmackDown returns on June 19 with a loaded lineup as the road to Night of Champions continues.

The biggest match of the night will see Cody Rhodes defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Gunther. Sami Zayn will serve as the special guest referee after Gunther made it clear that he no longer trusts regular WWE officials following the controversial finish at Clash in Italy.

The Queen of the Ring tournament will also continue when Charlotte Flair faces Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan in a semifinal match. IYO SKY has already advanced to the finals after defeating Raquel Rodriguez on Raw, so the winner of this match will move on to face her.

The King of the Ring tournament will have its second finalist decided as Jey Uso takes on Je’Von Evans. Oba Femi already secured his place in the finals after defeating Dominik Mysterio earlier in the week.

Carmelo Hayes will also face Ricky Saints in a number-one contender’s match for the WWE United States Championship. The winner will move one step closer to a title opportunity.

The WWE Tag Team Championships will also be defended as R-Truth and Damian Priest put the titles on the line against The MFT’s Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga.

SmackDown will air live from the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri. The show begins at 8 PM ET on USA Network, with international viewers able to watch through select streaming platforms, including Netflix in some markets.

With a world title match, two tournament semifinals, and tag team gold on the line, SmackDown has plenty of important stakes before Night of Champions.
