Their Crown Jewel showdown follows another heated confrontation on SmackDown
Summary
– Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton will meet in a Last Man Standing Match at Crown Jewel
– Rhodes requested the stipulation after Orton questioned his willingness to hurt him
– Crown Jewel is scheduled for November 7 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton have another match booked, and this time a three-count won’t settle it. WWE confirmed during SmackDown that the rivals will face each other in a Last Man Standing Match at Crown Jewel.
The announcement followed Orton’s reaction to Rhodes punting Baron Corbin the previous week. Rather than condemning the attack, Orton praised Cody for showing that aggression. He remained convinced, however, that Rhodes would hesitate if he had the same opportunity against him.
Rhodes confronted Orton and rejected that argument. He brought up the damage Randy had inflicted on Triple H, Shawn Michaels and Dusty Rhodes, making their latest exchange about more than Corbin’s treatment.
Cody also turned Orton’s familiar warning against him, suggesting that the three letters Randy should fear were now “IOU.” As Rhodes removed his jacket and the confrontation threatened to become physical, officials intervened.
Nick Aldis proposed a match at Crown Jewel. Rhodes wanted the Last Man Standing stipulation, and Orton accepted, warning Cody to remember whose idea it was.
The match adds another chapter to a rivalry that has already produced two major encounters this year. Rhodes defeated Orton at WrestleMania 42, while Randy won their rematch at Sunday Night’s Main Event.
Their next meeting replaces pinfalls and submissions with the referee’s ten-count. Crown Jewel is scheduled for November 7 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where both men will have to keep their opponent down to secure the victory.
