Lauren Cohan has confirmed that she is currently in a relationship. The Walking Dead: Dead City star opened up about her boyfriend during an interview with PEOPLE, but chose not to reveal his name.
Cohan affectionately referred to her boyfriend as “my man” and described him as her heart. The 44-year-old actress said she feels fortunate to have someone with so many positive qualities in her life.
“They’re my heart,” Cohan said. “I’m very lucky to have a person who’s a cocktail of good qualities.”
Her boyfriend occasionally visits her while she is working on set, although Cohan admitted that her demanding filming schedule can make those visits difficult. She considers herself an early bird and prefers going to sleep around 7:30 p.m. after a long day of filming.
“Anytime after 8 I become completely loopy,” Cohan joked. “It’s no fun when my boyfriend comes to visit me because I’m like, ‘Oh, I love you. I’m so glad you’re here. Good night.’”
Cohan has always considered herself fiercely independent, but her relationship has helped her discover a healthier balance between her personal life and career. She explained that maturity taught her that it is possible to remain ambitious while making time for someone important.
The actress believes that having a supportive relationship has improved her professional life instead of distracting from it. Cohan said the relationship has made her career feel more meaningful.
Cohan was previously linked to talent agent Christian Carino after the two were photographed holding hands at a New York Rangers game in 2016.
Along with celebrating her current relationship, Cohan is approaching another important milestone. October will mark 15 years since she joined The Walking Dead universe as Maggie Greene.
Cohan named the show’s second season as her favorite despite the criticism it received for spending much of its story on the Greene family farm. She compared her memories of the series to looking through an old photo album and struggling to separate the pictures from the experiences behind them.
A recent Dead City episode also included a flashback featuring the late Scott Wilson, who played Maggie’s father, Hershel Greene. The scene showed Maggie reflecting on her father while watching her son, Hershel, begin following in his grandfather’s footsteps as a doctor.
Cohan said the creative team had wanted to allow Maggie to remember Hershel Sr. She believed that watching her son come into his own was the most powerful moment of that tribute.
Outside The Walking Dead universe, Cohan is also developing several projects behind the camera. She is producing a feature film and writing another movie that she hopes to direct.
