Je’Von Evans survives Judgment Day interference in Raw gauntlet match
Summary
– JD McDonagh repeatedly interfered to help Dominik Mysterio during the gauntlet match
– Danhausen appeared and distracted Dominik ahead of Saturday Night’s Main Event
– Je’Von Evans hit the OG Cutter to eliminate Dominik and keep his SummerSlam hopes alive
Dominik Mysterio looked ready to steal another win on Raw, but Danhausen made sure the curse lived on.
Dominik was part of a seven-man gauntlet match, with the winner earning an Intercontinental Championship match against Penta at SummerSlam. He had help at ringside from JD McDonagh, and that support quickly became a major factor.
JD had already helped Dominik beat Joe Hendry earlier in the match. He then attacked Je’Von Evans behind the referee’s back, giving Dominik another advantage.
“The fact that JD McDonagh is out here in support of ‘Dirty’ Dominik Mysterio is an absolute crime. He helped Dominik beat Joe Hendry, and now he just took out Je’Von Evans behind the official’s back.”
Evans refused to stay down. The Young OG fought back and sent Dominik into the announce table before bringing him back inside the ring.
Evans then connected with a high-flying attack and covered Dominik, but Mysterio kicked out. With a SummerSlam title shot on the line, neither man had much room for error.
JD tried to get involved again, but Evans made him pay for it. That opening looked like it might still work in Dominik’s favor when Mysterio capitalized and hit the 619.
Once again, it seemed like JD was about to hand Dominik another victory. Then Danhausen arrived.
The crowd erupted as Danhausen made his presence felt, bringing chaos with him before his scheduled match against Dominik at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Danhausen tried to curse Dominik, but the distraction did not go exactly as planned at first. Dominik pointed JD toward Danhausen and told him to handle the problem.
That decision cost him.
While Dominik was focused on Danhausen and JD, Evans recovered and struck at the perfect time. He hit the OG Cutter and went straight into the cover.
“Je’Von into the cover. One, two, three. The curse lives on.”
Dominik Mysterio was eliminated, and Evans moved forward in the gauntlet match.
For Dominik, the loss was another sign that Danhausen is already in his head. The two are set to meet at Saturday Night’s Main Event, and Raw proved that even a quick distraction can ruin Dominik’s plans.
For Evans, it was a major win. He survived Judgment Day interference, took advantage of the chaos, and kept himself in the hunt for Penta’s Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam.
