Liv Morgan believes the timing of her arrival in WWE played an important role in her success. Looking back at her early training, she said she might not have made the cut under today’s developmental environment.

Speaking with Sean Evans on Hot Ones, Morgan explained that her lifelong love of WWE initially led her to have unrealistic expectations about becoming a wrestler.

“For me, like, no advantage. Such the illusion of an advantage. I thought I was gonna walk in there and be a natural.”

Morgan said she had been obsessed with WWE since she was five. As a child, missing even a few minutes of a show could leave her upset, and she expected that dedication to translate into quick progress.

“I thought when I started, I was gonna be champion in, like, a year.”

Training challenged that assumption. Morgan quickly learned that following wrestling closely did not prepare her for the difficulty of performing it.

She said WWE gave developing wrestlers considerable patience when she joined in 2014. That time allowed her to struggle, improve, and build the skills she needed.

“I’m so grateful that I started when I did ’cause I think if I started now, I don’t think I would’ve made the cut.”

Morgan’s assessment reflects her own experience rather than a confirmed comparison of WWE’s past and present recruitment policies. She emphasized that having time to develop was essential to her progress.

Her early years also brought financial difficulties. During a separate appearance on Six Feet Under, Morgan recalled sometimes having only $6 remaining after paying for rent, transportation, and wrestling gear.

Those experiences preceded the championship success she eventually achieved. Morgan credits the opportunity to keep learning, even when improvement came slowly, as a crucial part of reaching that level.
