Alexa Bliss explains how Ryan Cabrera transformed her humorous text messages into her debut song

Alexa Bliss Reveals Story Behind Debut Song

Ryan Cabrera turned her texts into lyrics

Summary

– Alexa Bliss releases I’m Just Drunk (Lexi’s Texts) on October 9

– Ryan Cabrera built the song around messages she sent him

– Bliss recorded vocals with collaborators, including Jaret from Bowling for Soup

Alexa Bliss’ first song began with a collection of text messages her husband, Ryan Cabrera, had saved over the years.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Bliss explained how those exchanges became I’m Just Drunk (Lexi’s Texts), scheduled for release on October 9.

Cabrera had kept a note on his phone containing some of her funniest and most outlandish messages. Before turning them into music, he had considered using the collection for a coffee table book or another creative project.

One exchange gave him the central idea. After Cabrera called her a drama queen, Bliss responded, “I’m not a drama queen, I’m just drunk.”

He thought the messages could work as a song and spent three or four days arranging them into lyrics. Bliss said his phone still contains voice recordings of him testing melodies and figuring out which texts would fit.

When Cabrera presented the idea, Bliss had one request.

“Please don’t embarrass me.”

Her concerns eased once she heard the result. Bliss liked the song’s catchy sound, and they headed into the studio to record her vocals.

She said the recording features Jaret from Bowling for Soup, Tommy Carlucci on drums, and Cabrera on guitar.

“It turns out fun, and I’m excited for everyone to hear how ridiculous our conversations are.”

Bliss announced the release in September and shared a preview alongside Cabrera. The project adds music to her creative work outside wrestling, which has also included voice acting.

She has not indicated whether more songs will follow. For now, her debut offers fans a humorous glimpse into the conversations that inspired it.
