Sony has released PS5 system software update 26.06-14.00.00, adding new Community Activity widgets to the console’s Welcome Hub.
The update became available in the United States and Canada on September 16, with a gradual rollout planned for other regions.
The new widgets let users see which games are gaining popularity in their area. The Trending Now section highlights 10 multiplayer games or modes seeing increased interest.
A separate Top 10 view displays the 10 most popular games in a player’s country or region from the previous week.
At launch, Fortnite, Minecraft, and Grand Theft Auto 5 ranked among the most popular PS5 games in the United States. NHL 27 and Teardown were listed among the trending titles.
Sony also added a speaker indicator for voice chat. Players can display the PSN username of the person speaking and adjust where the indicator appears on the screen.
PS5 Pro owners receive an enhanced PSSR change. The Enhance PSSR Image Quality option is now enabled by default, including for games that support the previous version of the technology.
Players can turn off the feature by going to Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output> Enhance PSSR Image Quality.
The update also adds an option to disable Bluetooth across the console. Sony said this feature is intended for esports venues and similar locations because it also disables rest mode and HDMI Device Link.
General system performance and stability improvements are also included. Players must connect their PS5 consoles to the internet and install version 26.06-14.00.00 to use the new features.
