GTA 6 Pre-Orders Reportedly Reach $750 Million

Sensor Tower estimates the game’s pre-launch sales have nearly matched GTA 5’s launch-day revenue
Summary
– GTA 6 pre-orders have reportedly reached $750 million
– The figure is just $50 million below GTA 5’s reported launch-day revenue
– Higher-priced editions and GTA Online could drive further sales after release
Grand Theft Auto 6 pre-orders have reportedly generated $750 million, according to a new estimate from industry analytics firm Sensor Tower. The reported total arrives about two weeks before the game’s launch.
That figure is just $50 million short of the $800 million Grand Theft Auto 5 made on its first day, including pre-orders. GTA 5 went on to generate $1 billion in its first three days.
The estimates suggest GTA 6 could set a record for a video game launch. Millions of players are expected to buy the game on release, though its eventual sales will depend on more than its opening day.
GTA 6 is reportedly priced at $80, while a $100 edition includes cosmetic items and other bonuses. The source report says Rockstar previously indicated the higher-priced edition accounted for most sales, suggesting many buyers are choosing it.
The game is also expected to launch without a PC version. That could affect its long-term sales, although Rockstar’s history with GTA Online shows how ongoing online support can extend a game’s commercial life.
GTA 5 has sold more than 230 million copies, while Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 has reportedly sold 87 million. GTA 6’s initial sales may be larger, but its long-term performance will likely depend in part on the future of GTA 6 Online.
