AMC is discussing Daryl Dixon’s future beyond season 4
Summary
– Norman Reedus may continue as Daryl Dixon after the spinoff’s fourth season
– AMC executive Dan McDermott said active discussions are happening about Daryl’s next chapter
– No Walking Dead projects beyond Dead City season 3 and Daryl Dixon season 4 have been officially announced
Norman Reedus may not be finished with The Walking Dead universe after Daryl Dixon season 4.
AMC Chief Content Officer Dan McDermott recently told The Ankler that the network is already talking with Reedus about what could come next for Daryl Dixon. That comment gives fans a strong reason to believe the character’s story may continue in some form.
The situation is not completely clear yet. Reedus recently shared a reflective Instagram post after filming wrapped on Daryl Dixon season 4, and the tone sounded like a goodbye to the character he has played for more than a decade.
That does not mean Daryl is gone for good. It may mean the current spinoff chapter is ending, while AMC explores a different way to use Reedus in the franchise.
McDermott’s wording also creates speculation about Daryl’s fate. If AMC is discussing another story for the character, it becomes less likely that Daryl Dixon’s season 4 ends with his death.
The larger Walking Dead future remains uncertain. Dead City season 3 premieres July 26, while Daryl Dixon season 4 is expected to arrive later in 2026.
After those shows, AMC has not officially announced another Walking Dead project. Dead City could continue, and Daryl may be part of a new story, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
McDermott also said AMC will always have Walking Dead shows on its platforms. That makes it clear the franchise is not going away, even if the next phase has not been revealed.
San Diego Comic-Con could be the place where AMC gives fans a clearer picture. With Dead City season 3 and Daryl Dixon season 4 both on the horizon, the network may soon reveal where the universe goes next.
