Championship rematch set for March 6 episode
Summary
– Drew McIntyre will defend the Undisputed WWE Championship on March 6
– Cody Rhodes receives title opportunity after Elimination Chamber fallout
– Match made official by Nick Aldis during post-show
Drew McIntyre is set to put the Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against Cody Rhodes on the March 6 episode of WWE SmackDown.
The match was confirmed by general manager Nick Aldis during the Elimination Chamber post-show, making the high-stakes rematch official just days after the chaotic premium live event.
McIntyre attempted to derail Rhodes during the Men’s Elimination Chamber match by interfering and targeting him inside the structure. The plan backfired when Rhodes responded with Cross Rhodes, neutralizing the champion before the closing moments unfolded. Shortly after, Randy Orton delivered an RKO to Rhodes to win the Chamber match.
The upcoming bout adds another chapter to the rivalry between McIntyre and Rhodes. McIntyre previously defeated Rhodes in a Three Stages of Hell match on the January 9 episode of SmackDown, solidifying his grip on the championship at the time.
The current lineup for the March 6 broadcast also includes the determination of new number one contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championship.
With momentum shifting and WrestleMania season underway, McIntyre and Rhodes will collide once again with the Undisputed WWE Championship at stake.
