He noted that while many designers already arrive as fans, the process demands an even deeper level of familiarity when translating a franchise into interactive gameplay.
One of the featured machines was The Walking Dead Remastered, an updated version released more than a decade after the original.
The remastered edition runs on Stern’s SPIKE 3 platform and introduces a larger 18.5-inch full high-definition display, replacing the older dot-style screen.
Audio improvements include separate speakers, enhanced sound design, upgraded lighting effects, and new RGB rollover switches.
The artwork and sculpting were refreshed, with new sculpts and gameplay rules added to expand replay value.
The Well Walker remains a standout feature, serving as a central target, while the redesigned crossbow mechanism offers improved precision and flexibility.
The second major release was Star Wars Fall of the Empire, which draws heavily from the original trilogy.
Gameplay elements recreate iconic moments such as battling AT-ATs, escaping Cloud City, navigating Jabba’s Sarlaac Pit, and attempting to destroy the second Death Star.
A standout feature enables Yoda to utilize the Force through a magnet system, preventing a ball from draining.
All narration is delivered by C-3PO, using original dialogue recorded by Lucasfilm, which reinforces the authentic Star Wars experience.
Together, both machines demonstrated Stern Pinball’s focus on blending advanced technology with deep respect for the franchises they adapt.
