Willow Nightingale scored a major victory over Mercedes Moné during the August 5 edition of AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam Mexico.
The AEW Women’s World Champion joined Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor of the Brawling Birds to defeat Moné and AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions Divine Dominion, consisting of Megan Bayne and Lena Kross.
The six-woman tag team matches brought together the two women’s championship rivalries heading into All In: London. Nightingale is scheduled to defend the AEW Women’s World Championship against Moné, while the Brawling Birds have been pursuing a title opportunity against Bayne and Kross.
Moné initially avoided entering the ring against Nightingale, allowing Bayne to begin the match with the champion. Willow fought through Bayne’s power before bringing Windsor into the action.
Kross attempted to help her partner control the match, but Willow returned and continued battling Divine Dominion. Moné eventually blindsided Nightingale and tried to take advantage before all six competitors entered the fight.
The action became increasingly chaotic as both teams traded suplexes and cleared opponents from the ring. Moné later connected with a Meteora from the middle rope as she attempted to weaken her future challenger.
Hayter responded with a powerful lariat, while Bayne used her strength to remain a constant threat. Bayne escaped a Falcon Arrow and continued exchanging heavy offense with the former AEW Women’s World Champion.
Willow eventually turned her attention back to Moné. With their championship match only weeks away, both women attempted to establish control before meeting at Wembley Stadium.
Moné climbed to the top rope and tried another Meteora, but Nightingale moved out of the way. Willow immediately punished her challenger and attempted to finish the match with a powerbomb.
Divine Dominion intervened before Nightingale could complete the move. The Brawling Birds answered by attacking Bayne and Kross, briefly separating the two rival teams.
As the match reached its conclusion, Moné attempted to hit the Moné Maker. Nightingale escaped, changed her grip, and trapped Moné in a tightly secured backslide.
Moné was unable to break free before the referee completed the three-count, giving Willow and the Brawling Birds the victory.
The result provided Nightingale with an important psychological advantage before All In. Moné earned her championship opportunity by winning the women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, but Willow has now shown that she can defeat her challenger directly.
Their rivalry carries a long history. Moné defeated Nightingale to capture the TBS Championship in her AEW debut at Double or Nothing 2024. Willow later gained revenge by beating Moné for that championship at New Year’s Smash in December 2025.
They will meet again at All In with AEW’s top women’s championship at stake.
The match also strengthened the Brawling Birds’ claim to a title opportunity. After the winners celebrated, AEW confirmed that Hayter and Windsor will challenge Divine Dominion for the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship at All In.
Bayne and Kross watched from the ring as their new challengers celebrated with Nightingale on the entrance ramp.
Grand Slam Mexico ended with both champions facing renewed pressure. Divine Dominion must now defend against a team that helped defeat them, while Moné must recover after being pinned by the woman she intends to dethrone.
Willow did more than earn a team victory in Arena México. By keeping Moné’s shoulders down for three seconds, she delivered a clear warning about what could happen when the AEW Women’s World Championship is decided at Wembley Stadium.
