The champions survived a fast-paced challenge from The Conglomeration on Dynamite.
Summary
– Swerve Strickland and The New Level retained the AEW World Trios Championship
– Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly, and Roderick Strong pushed the champions throughout the match
– Kofi and Austin Creed finished Cassidy with Daybreak to secure the victory
Swerve Strickland and The New Level successfully defended the AEW World Trios Championship during the September 9 Rebel Heart edition of Dynamite.
Swerve joined Kofi and Austin Creed against The Conglomeration’s Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly, and Roderick Strong in a fast-paced championship match.
Cassidy frustrated the champions with his unusual offense and mind games. He placed his hands in his pockets while escaping an attack from The New Level and caught both men in side headlocks.
The action quickly spilled outside the ring as all six wrestlers became involved. Cassidy took down Swerve with a tornado DDT on the floor while Creed, O’Reilly, Strong, and Kofi exchanged dives and heavy strikes.
Strong also caught Swerve with an Olympic Slam as The Conglomeration came close to taking control. Creed responded by working with Kofi to hit O’Reilly with a wheelbarrow German suplex and leg-drop combination.
The finish came after Kofi avoided Cassidy’s attempt to build momentum. The New Level trapped Cassidy and connected with Daybreak.
Kofi covered Cassidy for the three-count, allowing Swerve and The New Level to leave Dynamite with the AEW World Trios Championship still in their possession.
The victory gave the champions another successful defense against an experienced trio. The Conglomeration created several openings, but one final combination from Kofi and Creed ended its championship opportunity.
