Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is giving PlayStation 5 players an early look at its multiplayer, movement systems, and even part of its Campaign through a two-weekend Beta.
The Early Access Beta is available now for players who pre-ordered Modern Warfare 4 or redeemed a Beta Code. Weekend One runs through August 25 at 10:00 a.m. PT, while Weekend Two becomes an Open Beta from August 28 at 10:00 a.m. PT through September 1 at 10:00 a.m. PT. Progress and installation from the first weekend will carry over into the second.
Modern Warfare 4 returns to a grounded combat style while expanding player movement. Players can climb and descend pipes, reposition while hanging from ledges, fire while suspended, and chain different movements together with greater control. A dedicated Mobility Course is also available to help players practice movement, weapon handling, and marksmanship.
The Beta includes access to 22 weapons through progression, default loadouts, and Campaign content. Gunsmith customization returns, while supported weapons can unlock new Apex Attachments that change weapon performance without using a standard attachment slot. A feature called Gunny can also recommend builds based on attachments a player has already unlocked.
Six Core 6v6 maps are available throughout the Beta, including Rooftops, Silkworm, Transit 213, Cachette, Lotus, and Lithium. Traditional modes such as Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, and Search and Destroy are joined by new modes called Inflation and Hijack.
Kill Block introduces another multiplayer variation with a modular battlefield built from three connected Slabs. The arena can change its routes, sightlines, weather, and combat areas between rounds, creating more than 500 possible combinations. Players can compete there in the traditional 3v3 Gunfight or the larger 10v10 Gunfight mode.
Ground War: Combat Outpost expands the action to 24v24 combat with vehicles and infantry. Teams establish Outposts to earn resources and complete additional objectives while dealing with large Killstreaks across Imjin Farmland and Wolves Stadium.
Modern Warfare 4 is also bringing Campaign content into a Call of Duty Beta for the first time. The mission Entrenched places players alongside infantry and armored vehicles during an assault to prevent a nuclear power station from falling into enemy hands.
Weekend Two adds Call of Duty: Warzone Resurgence on the new Zodiac map. Players will fight across offices, rooftops, tunnels, and shoreline areas while completing Contracts and trying to keep squad redeployment timers low enough to survive to the end.
Eight Beta rewards can also be earned by reaching Level 30 across both weekends. Those rewards will carry into the full game at launch and include the Dread Tiger Operator Skin for Reece and a Beta Forged Weapon Blueprint for the Han 86 Assault Rifle.
Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled to launch on October 23, giving PS5 players two Beta weekends to test its multiplayer changes, Campaign content, and Warzone additions before release.
