Marvel’s Wolverine will arrive on PlayStation 5 on September 15, 2026, ending a lengthy wait for Insomniac Games’ solo adventure starring Logan.
Sony confirmed the release date in February, then revealed additional gameplay and story details during State of Play on June 2. The standard edition is priced at $69.99, with preorders currently available.
The game is a single-player, story-driven action-adventure centered on a darker, more violent version of Wolverine. Insomniac is moving away from the lighter tone associated with its Spider-Man games to reflect Logan’s brutal fighting style.
Marvel’s Wolverine was first announced in 2021. Insomniac kept most details private until September 2025, when the first official gameplay trailer revealed a Fall 2026 release window.
The story follows Logan as he investigates the disappearance of several mutants. They have been captured by the Reavers, a cybernetic group working for billionaire industrialist Bolivar Trask.
Jean Grey will appear during the story, while Logan’s history with Team X will also play an important role. He left the strike force three years before the events of the game, but that past continues to follow him.
Insomniac has described the game as an original story rather than a direct adaptation of an existing comic book. The studio is combining violent combat with a more personal look at Logan and the emotional damage he carries.
Marvel’s Wolverine will be available as a PlayStation 5 console exclusive, with support for the PS5 Pro. The game could also establish the foundation for more X-Men projects from Insomniac.
After years of limited updates, Wolverine’s first solo PlayStation adventure is finally ready to launch. Players will find out on September 15 whether Insomniac can deliver the same level of success it achieved with Spider-Man to Logan.
