Women’s World Champion may not defend until SummerSlam
Summary
– Liv Morgan is reportedly not expected to defend the Women’s World Championship anytime soon
– Her Queen of the Ring tournament run could keep the title out of defense plans through Night of Champions
– A report suggests WWE may wait until SummerSlam for Morgan’s first title defense
Liv Morgan’s run as Women’s World Champion has passed the 50-day mark, but her first title defense still has not happened.
A new report from WrestleVotes claims Morgan is not expected to defend the championship anytime soon. Her current involvement in the 2026 Queen of the Ring tournament appears to be a major reason.
The Queen of the Ring tournament is scheduled to conclude at Night of Champions on June 27. The report expects Morgan to make it to the finals, which would keep her focused on the tournament rather than defending her title.
After Night of Champions, WWE would only have about a month before SummerSlam on August 1 and 2. Because of that short window, the report suggested WWE may hold off and save Morgan’s first title defense for SummerSlam.
That would push Morgan’s reign beyond 80 days without a defense. The report also noted that creative has been split on how to use Morgan and Dominik Mysterio on RAW.
Morgan has still been active on television. She competed against recent main roster call-up Sol Ruca and later won her opening-round Queen of the Ring match.
The Queen of the Ring winner earns a world title match at SummerSlam, which makes Morgan’s tournament run unusual since she already holds a world championship.
For now, Morgan remains champion, but the lack of title defenses is becoming a bigger part of the conversation around her reign.
