The Walking Dead star Lauren Cohan is set to lead the new romantic comedy Both Sides Now alongside Jake Epstein.
Deadline was first to report that Cohan and Epstein will headline the ensemble cast of the independently produced film. Eric Stoltz is directing from a screenplay written by Hailey Lustig and composer Robbie Roth.
Both Sides Now centers on a group of lifelong friends approaching their 40s. They return to the Jewish summer camp where they grew up to celebrate Eddie’s upcoming wedding.
The reunion takes an unexpected turn when Lloyd, played by Erich Bergen, invites Eddie’s former camp sweetheart Erin, portrayed by Cohan, to the bachelor weekend. Their gathering soon forces the friends to confront old romances, unresolved feelings, and the lives they chose.
The cast also includes Bergen, Justin Chatwin, and Brian Norris. The film will feature six original songs written by Roth and performed by members of the cast.
Lustig and Roth drew inspiration from their own friendship and shared summer-camp history. The pair were born in the same Toronto maternity ward on opposite sides of midnight and have remained close for decades.
Stoltz said the script balanced comedy, nostalgia, and emotional depth while exploring friendship, first love, and the choices people make throughout their lives. He also praised the way Roth’s music fits into the story.
Both Sides Now is being financed by Three Birds Landing Productions, marking the company’s first feature film. Lustig, Carrie Mudd, and Erin Berry are producing the project with Peacock Alley Entertainment.
Production began on September 19 in Muskoka, Ontario, and is expected to continue through October 20. No release date has been announced.
