Joe Gacy Gives Positive Knee Injury Update

Joseph Sawyer is already walking better

Summary

– Joseph Sawyer was forced to stop his GCW Championship match after injuring his knee

– The former Joe Gacy said he could not regain feeling in the knee during the bout

– Sawyer reported that he was already walking better the following morning

Joseph Sawyer, formerly known as Joe Gacy, suffered a knee injury during GCW The Score on Saturday but does not expect to miss significant time.

Sawyer was defending the GCW Championship against Jeffrey John when the match was stopped after he took a cannonball in the corner directly to his knee. The injury came during Sawyer’s second title defense of the night.

He had defeated Jazzy Yang earlier in the show before moving on to face John. Sawyer could not continue after the corner impact and left the ring area without the championship belt.

The former WWE star later addressed the situation on social media. Sawyer explained that he tried to regain feeling in his knee before deciding whether he could continue, but he was unable to.

Sawyer also said the injury did not appear to be serious enough to keep him out for an extended period. He described himself as likely being okay for now while continuing to monitor the issue.

The update became more encouraging on Sunday morning. Sawyer told fans that he was already walking better and thanked everyone who had contacted him after the match.

No formal diagnosis or timetable was announced, and GCW has not indicated whether Sawyer’s championship status will change after the match was stopped. The fact that he left without the belt created questions, but Sawyer’s own update suggested the injury was the immediate concern.

Sawyer is coming off a busy week that included a surprise appearance on TNA iMPACT. He joined Samuel Shaw, formerly known as Dexter Lumis, during the live episode as the two former members of the Wyatt Sicks made their TNA arrival.

WWE released both Sawyer and Shaw in April before beginning their next chapters outside the company. Sawyer has since continued working at independent events while also appearing for TNA.

The knee injury came at an unfortunate time, but Sawyer’s early recovery update provides some relief. He was unable to finish the match against Jeffrey John, yet he was already reporting improved movement less than 24 hours later.

Further updates will likely determine whether Sawyer can return to action soon or needs additional time away. For now, the GCW Champion appears confident that the injury will not become a long-term setback.
