Ubisoft helped create AEW’s cinematic opening
Summary
– Assassin’s Creed sponsored Will Ospreay’s elaborate AEW All Out entrance
– Ubisoft brought in Matt Ryan to narrate the presentation as Edward Kenway
– AEW and Assassin’s Creed worked on the entrance for more than a month
Will Ospreay’s entrance at AEW All Out was designed to feel like a video game, and the presentation had plenty of work behind it.
A backstage report from Fightful Select revealed that Assassin’s Creed sponsored the entrance, with Ubisoft helping AEW create the cinematic opening. The collaboration was part of a four-year partnership between the wrestling promotion and the video game franchise.
The entrance also featured Matt Ryan, the voice of Edward Kenway from Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Ryan narrated Ospreay’s arrival while the production incorporated footage from the game, Ospreay’s AEW career, and his time in New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
The report stated that the presentation was developed for more than a month before the pay-per-view. That preparation helped the entrance feel like more than a standard sponsorship activation.
Ryan’s narration connected Ospreay’s journey to the themes of the Assassin’s Creed series before ending with the line, “We choose to fight.”
The visual package immediately stood out as Ospreay made his way toward the ring. Gameplay footage and cinematic imagery were blended with wrestling highlights, creating an opening that felt more like a character introduction in a major action game than a traditional wrestling entrance.
The timing also made sense. Ospreay was heading into the biggest match of his AEW career, defending the AEW World Championship against Jon Moxley in the main event.
His night became even more difficult when the Death Riders became involved. Marina Shafir, Wheeler Yuta, and other members of the group attempted to swing the match in Moxley’s favor, but Ospreay continued fighting through the interference and repeated attacks.
Ospreay eventually defeated Moxley with a final Hidden Blade to retain the championship. His elaborate entrance set the tone for the match, while the title victory gave the presentation an even stronger finish.
AEW has used crossover promotions before, but this collaboration went beyond placing a logo on the stage. Assassin’s Creed was built directly into Ospreay’s entrance, from the footage to the narration and the overall presentation.
Ubisoft and AEW spent weeks creating an experience that connected Ospreay’s wrestling persona with one of gaming’s most recognizable franchises. The result was one of the most memorable entrances on the All Out card.
