Safe Mode also includes options to change video output, update system software, restore default settings, and reset the console. The Change Video Output option can help resolve signal or resolution problems after changing television or HDR settings.
Updating the system software may fix a problem caused by damaged or outdated files. Users can also restore default settings without deleting their games and saved data, although some system preferences will be reset.
The final options are more serious. Reset PS5 deletes user data from the console, while Reset PS5 and Reinstall System Software completely removes the operating system and then reinstalls it. These options should be used only after other solutions have failed, and important data should be backed up first.
Safe Mode is not something most PS5 owners will need regularly, but it can provide a useful recovery path when normal troubleshooting does not work.
