Baron Corbin believes the multi-year contract he signed after returning to WWE could be the final deal of his wrestling career.
During an interview with The Sportster, Corbin explained that he returned with several unfinished goals. The biggest accomplishment still missing from his résumé is a WWE World Championship.
Corbin said he wants to make the most of his latest run and prove that he can still compete at the highest level. Capturing a World Championship would complete something he was unable to accomplish during his first WWE run.
The former United States Champion also admitted that he has started thinking about how much time he has left in the ring. He does not want to continue wrestling after his speed, physicality, or overall performance begins to decline.
Corbin stressed that he wants to give everything he has whenever he walks through the curtain. That standard is why he expects his current agreement to be the final contract he signs.
Corbin came close to reaching WWE’s top level during his original run. He won the Money in the Bank briefcase in 2017 but failed to capture the WWE Championship when John Cena interfered in his cash-in against Jinder Mahal.
He received another opportunity during the six-pack challenge for the WWE Championship at Fastlane 2018, but failed to leave with the title.
After departing WWE, Corbin competed under his real name, Tom Pestock, and worked for several independent promotions. His time away included winning MLW tag team gold.
Corbin returned to WWE on July 10 and quickly entered the United States Championship picture. He captured the title at SummerSlam before losing it to Trick Williams at Sunday Night’s Main Event.
Losing the United States Championship has not changed Corbin’s larger goal. If this is his final WWE contract, he plans to spend it chasing the World Championship that has remained out of reach throughout his career.
