Every The Walking Dead Spin-Off Currently In Development

The undead saga continues with new chapters for Maggie, Negan, Daryl, and Carol

Summary

– The Walking Dead franchise continues through multiple spin-offs and sequels

– Dead City returns for Season 3 with a new showrunner, Seth Hoffman

– Daryl Dixon’s story concludes in Season 4, while More Tales remains uncertain

Even after the main series ended in 2022, The Walking Dead universe remains alive through a growing slate of spin-offs. Adapted from Robert Kirkman’s comics, the franchise now includes seven live-action titles that expand the world long after Rick Grimes’ original story concluded.

Some spinoffs like Fear The Walking Dead, World Beyond, and The Ones Who Live have wrapped, but several new chapters are still on the horizon. Here’s a look at the projects still carrying the torch for AMC’s undead empire.

The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3
The Maggie and Negan-centered series will continue with a third season following its dramatic Season 2 conclusion in June 2025. AMC confirmed that production will begin in Boston this fall, with Seth Hoffman stepping in as showrunner. “It’s a true honor to chart out the next chapter for Maggie and Negan’s adventures in Dead City,” Hoffman said. Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan return to lead the series as tensions rise in the post-apocalyptic ruins of Manhattan.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 4
Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride will reunite for the final season of Daryl Dixon, which has taken the franchise across Europe. AMC has confirmed that the fourth and final season begins filming in Spain later this year, with eight episodes planned. “This finale isn’t just an ending; it’s a celebration of what we’ve all shared together,” Reedus said. The season promises to close Daryl and Carol’s journey on an emotional note while keeping the door open for future appearances in the universe.

More Tales From The Walking Dead Universe
Announced in 2023 as a continuation of the anthology series Tales of The Walking Dead, this short-form project was set to explore new stories across the franchise. Overseen by chief content officer Scott Gimple, the spin-off has not received any updates since its announcement, leaving its production status uncertain.

The Walking Dead universe continues evolving from New York’s ruins to Europe’s wastelands. Whether through returning favorites or new survivors, AMC’s undead world shows no signs of slowing down.
