WWE is leaning all the way into its New York Knicks crossover for Saturday Night’s Main Event.
According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, WWE has invited several members of the 2026 NBA Champion New York Knicks to the July 18 event at Madison Square Garden.
Multiple Knicks players are expected to attend, which makes sense after WWE already tied Danhausen into the team’s championship story with the idea that he “uncursed” the Knicks.
The biggest name involved in those plans is Jalen Brunson. WWE reportedly explored creative ideas for Brunson at Saturday Night’s Main Event, with several pitches involving Danhausen.
That would have been a natural payoff after Danhausen became part of the Knicks’ title run story. However, Brunson’s left wrist surgery changed what WWE could do with him physically.
WWE was reportedly told that Brunson would undergo surgery, which ruled out any physical role. SNY later reported that Brunson had the procedure after playing through the Knicks’ championship run with the injury.
Brunson is expected to resume basketball activities later this summer, but WWE still hopes he will be at Madison Square Garden for an on-screen appearance.
Danhausen is already part of the show’s promotional push and is scheduled to face JD McDonagh. WWE has also released Danhausen x New York Knicks merchandise connected to the “uncursed” storyline.
That makes it clear WWE wants the Knicks celebration to feel like part of the event, not just a quick celebrity cameo.
The Knicks won the championship, Danhausen got the crossover spotlight, and WWE now has a chance to turn Saturday Night’s Main Event into a full New York celebration.
