Marathon is officially set to launch on March 5, 2026, bringing Bungie’s new PvPvE extraction shooter to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Alongside the release date announcement, PlayStation has revealed new limited-edition hardware inspired by the game’s world.
Marathon places players in the role of bio-cybernetic Runners exploring the hostile environment of Tau Ceti IV. Players can deploy solo or in crews of three while navigating derelict facilities, rival factions, and unpredictable threats in pursuit of valuable gear and story-driven discoveries.
A newly released gameplay trailer introduces Gantry, a faction agent tied to the anti-establishment group MIDA. Marathon features six distinct factions, each offering unique contracts that unlock progression paths, upgrades, and narrative elements through individual faction trees.
Endgame content will include Cryo Archive, an advanced zone unlocking in Season 1. Located aboard the UESC Marathon ship, the area challenges players to breach security systems, access frozen vaults, and confront a mysterious entity feared even by the UESC.
To celebrate the launch, PlayStation revealed the DualSense wireless controller – Marathon Limited Edition. The controller features bold graphics and fractured design elements inspired by Marathon’s industrial architecture and visual style. It launches March 5 in limited quantities worldwide, priced at $84.99 USD.
PlayStation also announced the Pulse Elite wireless headset – Marathon Limited Edition, available exclusively in the U.S. through direct.playstation.com. The headset combines Marathon-themed visuals with PlayStation Link audio technology for low-latency, immersive sound, and will retail for $169.99 USD.
Pre-orders for both limited edition accessories begin January 29, 2026, at 10:00am local time. Customers who order directly from PlayStation may be eligible for free launch-day delivery, while supplies last.
Marathon will be available in Standard and Deluxe Editions, with the Deluxe Edition including the Midnight Decay cosmetic bundle. Pre-orders also unlock additional cosmetic rewards, including exclusive items tied to Destiny 2 for linked Bungie.net accounts.
Bungie additionally revealed a Collector’s Edition featuring a premium unboxing experience, a 1/6-scale Thief Runner Shell statue, collectible items, and digital rewards. A new Marathon Welcome Hub background will also roll out to PS5 consoles ahead of launch.
