The $99.99 Pulse arrives first, with Pulse Edge following in 2027
Summary
– PlayStation Pulse launches November 19 for $99.99
– Pulse Edge adds active noise cancellation and a detachable boom microphone
– Both headsets support PlayStation Link and simultaneous Bluetooth connectivity
Sony is expanding its PS5 audio lineup with the PlayStation Pulse and Pulse Edge wireless headsets. Both models feature custom planar magnetic drivers, with the standard Pulse arriving first and the premium Edge following in early 2027.
PlayStation Pulse launches in select markets, including the United States, on November 19 for $99.99. White and Midnight Black versions will be available, with preorders opening October 29. U.S. orders through PlayStation Direct begin at 10 AM ET.
The new lineup uses larger planar magnetic drivers than Pulse Elite. Sony says the design delivers deeper bass while preserving the separation and detail needed to distinguish sounds such as footsteps and reloads.
Both models support PlayStation Link for lossless, low-latency audio across compatible devices, including PS5, PlayStation Portal, PC and Mac. Simultaneous Bluetooth connectivity also lets players hear phone calls or music alongside their game audio.
The standard Pulse includes an integrated microphone with AI-enhanced noise rejection. Its rotating earcups allow the headset to lie flat for easier transport, while PS5 players can access audio settings to adjust their listening experience.
Pulse Edge adds several premium features. These include active noise cancellation, a detachable boom microphone, a hidden-mic option, and a carrying case. It also has built-in controls for balancing game audio and voice chat on PS5.
Active noise cancellation is exclusive to Edge. The microphone noise rejection available on both models serves a different purpose, filtering background sound from the wearer’s voice chat.
Sony has not announced the price of Pulse Edge or an exact release date. For now, the standard Pulse has a confirmed November launch, while the higher-end model remains scheduled for early next year.
