Summary

– Leon Slater will defend the TNA World Championship against Trey Miguel at Destination X

– Miguel secured the title shot by winning a five-way ladder match on iMPACT

– Destination X takes place November 15 in Edmonton, Alberta

Leon Slater has his Destination X challenger. Trey Miguel earned a TNA World Championship match by retrieving the contract in the main event of the October 15 edition of iMPACT.

The title bout is set for November 15 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It gives Slater a major defense to prepare for after defeating Nic Nemeth at Bound For Glory to begin his first reign as World Champion.

Miguel’s opportunity came through a five-way ladder match against Elijah, Jason Hotch, Ricky Sosa and Moose. The contest closed the first iMPACT after Bound For Glory, with the winner guaranteed a shot at Slater.

Several rivalries spilled into the action. Hotch, the new TNA International Champion, began climbing before Mustafa Ali appeared. The former champion confronted Hotch, and their fight continued toward the backstage area.

Elijah later approached the contract, only for Nemeth to interfere. Frustrated about not receiving the rematch he said he was owed, Nemeth stopped Elijah and attempted to claim the opportunity himself despite not being an entrant.

Miguel prevented that attempt from succeeding. He pulled Nemeth away from the ladder, countered a superkick and connected with the Lightning Spiral. With Nemeth out of the way, Miguel climbed and secured the contract.

The victory puts Miguel in pursuit of a championship he has yet to hold. His previous success includes the International, X-Division and tag team titles, but Destination X offers the chance to add TNA’s top singles prize.

Slater and Miguel have met in TNA before. Their June 2024 singles match ended without a winner, leaving this championship encounter with a different set of stakes. This time, Slater arrives as the champion and Miguel has earned the right to challenge him.
