Summary
– Dead City takes fans behind the scenes of the party at Dillard’s bar
– Lauren Cohan says the moment shows a freer side of Maggie
– The cast also reveals their karaoke choices and jokes about forming a band
The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3 gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the party inside Dillard’s bar, a rare moment where the characters were able to relax instead of fighting for survival.
The featurette highlights how unusual it is for The Walking Dead universe to show an entire group simply enjoying themselves. The scene featured dancing, fake drinks, karaoke, and even people using the stripper pole as the survivors celebrated together after their successful mission.
Lauren Cohan explained that the scene allowed Maggie to show a side of herself that viewers rarely see. She described Maggie as a fun-loving teenager and said the party gave her more freedom and finally allowed her to enjoy herself.
The cast also embraced the karaoke portion of the scene. Several performers revealed that they enjoy singing, with Madonna’s “Like a Prayer,” David Bowie’s “Starman” and “China Girl” mentioned among their possible karaoke selections.
According to the cast, the karaoke sequence was not heavily rehearsed. Instead, they jumped into the scene once the cameras started rolling, helping to create the loose, spontaneous atmosphere seen during the celebration.
The featurette also turned playful when the cast started imagining a Dead City band. Ross Marquand was suggested for bass, while other cast members joked about playing guitar or multiple instruments, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan was humorously nominated for lead triangle.
The party ultimately offered the cast a chance to let loose together while giving viewers a break from the constant tension surrounding the island. It also showed a different side of Maggie as she laughed, drank, and enjoyed the moment alongside Negan and the rest of the group.
