Willow Nightingale is heading into AEW All In with a broken hand, but the full severity of the injury has not yet been determined.
Speaking with POST Wrestling, the AEW Women’s World Champion said she was scheduled to undergo an X-ray to learn more about the damage and determine how much movement she will have in the hand during Sunday’s title defense against Mercedes Moné.
Willow explained that the results will determine whether she can maintain some wrist and hand flexibility or whether the injury will need to be heavily protected throughout the match.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the hand, Willow made it clear that she still intends to compete at Wembley Stadium. She said her heart remains strong and that she is ready to fight regardless of the physical limitations.
AEW has already incorporated the legitimate injury into the television storyline with Moné. During Dynamite in Glasgow, Mercedes targeted Willow’s injured hand backstage, including stomping on it and striking it during the attack.
Willow acknowledged that the assault made an already difficult situation worse, but said she was not surprised by Moné targeting the injury before their championship match.
Tony Khan previously confirmed that Willow had suffered a broken hand and revealed the injury forced AEW to adjust some plans during its Dynamite and Collision tapings.
The All In championship match remains scheduled, leaving the extent of Willow’s limitations as one of the biggest questions heading into the event. The upcoming X-ray should provide a clearer indication of how much use she will have of the injured hand when she steps into the ring with Moné.
