Aalyah Mysterio is beginning her journey with WWE, and Rey Mysterio is encouraged by the progress his daughter has already made.
During a September 11 interview with BANG Showbiz, Rey described Aalyah as a fast learner who shares several qualities with her brother, Dominik Mysterio.
Rey recalled that Dominik initially faced challenges while learning professional wrestling. Once he began gaining regular in-ring experience, he quickly improved and began to notice finer details.
According to Rey, Aalyah has demonstrated that same ability. She learns quickly and commits herself fully once she decides to accomplish something.
Rey admitted that he did not initially realize how passionate his daughter was about wrestling. Her interest became clear after she accompanied him to the WWE Performance Center in October 2025 and stepped inside the ring.
“I thought it was going to be like a one-time thing. She went up to the PC with me in October of last year, went into the PC and really liked it.”
Rey later arranged for Aalyah to return to the Performance Center without him. She trained for 10 consecutive days over two weeks while experiencing the daily routine on her own.
Aalyah continued enjoying the process even without her father beside her. That experience showed Rey that her interest extended beyond simply sharing a wrestling moment with him.
Before pursuing wrestling, Aalyah graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a degree in Human Biology. Rey reminded her that returning to school would remain an option if she decided to follow a different path.
He also made it clear that success in wrestling would require consistent effort. Rey told Aalyah that the opportunity was available, but she would need to put in the work herself.
Aalyah reportedly began training at the WWE Performance Center and was added to its internal roster in August. She was listed under her real surname, Gutierrez, although WWE has not confirmed what name she would use as a performer.
Rey said Aalyah is currently working to create a name for herself while honoring the careers of both her father and brother. She remains early in the developmental process, and no date has been announced for a possible WWE debut.
