Penta turned an unexpected opportunity into a Money in the Bank berth during the September 21 episode of WWE RAW.
The men’s qualifier was originally scheduled to feature Solo Sikoa, Dragon Lee, and Dominik Mysterio. Those plans changed after the 946 attacked Solo in the parking lot, placed him inside an SUV, and drove away.
Adam Pearce announced that the Triple Threat would continue with Penta replacing Solo. Penta immediately joined Lee and Dominik in a chaotic contest filled with strikes, counters, and broken-up pinfalls.
Dominik nearly won after hitting Lee with a 619 and connecting with a Frog Splash on Penta. Penta escaped by raising his knees, keeping the match alive.
The finish came after Dominik exposed a turnbuckle while arguing with the referee. Penta sent him into the exposed steel, followed by a springboard Mexican Destroyer, and scored the three-count.
Penta was not even scheduled to compete when RAW began, but he left San Antonio with a spot in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match and a chance to earn a future World Championship opportunity.
