Zayn won the Undisputed WWE Championship from Cody Rhodes at Night of Champions on June 27 in a Triple Threat match that also included GUNTHER.
His reign ended just nine days later on the July 6 episode of Raw when CM Punk returned and defeated him after GUNTHER took Rhodes out of the picture.
While speaking on Busted Open Radio, Natalya said the loss may cause fans to see Sami as someone who was unfairly denied a real championship run.
She pointed out that fans had started turning on Zayn before his match with Trick Williams, but wrestling crowds can shift quickly when they believe someone has been wronged.
Natalya said people now feel like Sami was screwed because he barely had time to enjoy the championship before losing it.
That sympathy could create a much stronger connection between Zayn and the audience, especially if WWE builds the story around him fighting to reclaim what he lost.
Natalya also said her favorite version of CM Punk was his heel run alongside Paul Heyman.
She believes the best direction would be for Punk to turn heel while Sami scratches and claws his way back into title contention.
