Otis suffered a brutal heartbreak on Raw, and Maxxine Dupri helped make it happen.
The segment began with Otis trying to speak from the heart. He told Maxxine he had something to say, but Austin Theory and The Vision quickly turned the moment into a joke.
Theory laughed at Otis and mocked the idea that someone like him could ever end up with Maxxine. He then made things more personal by saying Maxxine was with him now.
“People like you don’t end up with people like her. All right. So let’s get something straight here, buddy. She’s with me now.”
That was enough for Otis. After listening to Theory insult him, Otis finally snapped and went after him.
Before Otis could get his hands on Theory, Bron Breakker attacked from behind. The fight quickly spilled into chaos as Alpha Academy tried to respond.
Akira Tozawa entered the fight but was caught and taken out. Bron Breakker kept the attack going as The Vision overwhelmed Alpha Academy.
Then Maxxine stepped in and made the moment even worse. She acted as if she were trying to reach Otis emotionally, telling him that things could have been fixed and that none of this had to happen.
“We could have fixed this. None of this had to happen. Otis, do you hear me?”
Otis listened because he still cared about her. That hesitation gave Austin Theory the opening he needed.
Theory hit Otis with a low blow, revealing that Maxxine had been setting him up the entire time.
“Did you really think it would ever be us.”
The betrayal left Otis heartbroken and vulnerable. Theory then used the brass knuckles that had played a role in the previous week’s tag team title match and blasted Otis in the face.
Maxxine continued tearing him down after the attack. She called him a loser and made it clear she wanted him back at the bottom.
“You are done. You’re a loser. Lucy never likes you. No one likes you. You are finished, back to the bottom you go.”
The Vision was not done there. The group continued the assault as the crowd booed the ugly scene.
For Otis, this was more than a physical beatdown. Maxxine used his emotions against him, then watched as The Vision took him apart.
Alpha Academy may have lost the fight, but Otis took the worst damage of all. The heartbreak may be what stays with him longer than any punch.
