The Hardys and The Nemeths brawl ahead of their championship matches

The rivalry between The Hardys and The Nemeths erupted into an all-out fight during the August 6 edition of TNA iMPACT.
Matt Hardy faced Ryan Nemeth in singles competition as Jeff Hardy and TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth watched from ringside.
The match served as another step toward TNA Lockdown, where Matt and Jeff will defend the TNA World Tag Team Championship against Nic and Ryan inside a steel cage.
Ryan immediately confronted Matt before the opening bell, showing little concern for the more dangerous attitude The Hardys have displayed since emerging from the Lake of Reincarnation.
Matt answered with an aggressive start, but Ryan slowed him down and gained control by dragging his eyes across the top rope.
The challenger continued to mock Matt while attempting to prove he could defeat one-half of the reigning tag team champions before Lockdown.
Ryan and Nic already hold a championship victory over The Hardys. At Rebellion 2025, Ryan pinned Jeff to help The Nemeths capture the TNA World Tag Team Championship.
That history gave Ryan additional confidence as he attempted to repeat the result against Matt.
The former world champion fought back with a series of forearm strikes before connecting with a back elbow, leg drop, and neckbreaker. Ryan survived another near fall after Matt delivered the Side Effect.
Matt climbed to the top rope and connected with an elbow drop, but Ryan again kicked out.
The match changed when Matt attempted the Twist of Fate.
Nic grabbed Matt’s leg from outside the ring while Ryan distracted the referee. Jeff saw the interference and immediately attacked the TNA World Champion at ringside.
Ryan used the distraction to plant Matt with a DDT, but the TNA World Tag Team Champion kicked out at two.
Jeff and Nic continued fighting outside the ring as the match broke down around them.
Ryan turned his attention toward the ringside brawl, giving Matt the opening he needed. Matt caught him with the Twist of Fate and secured the pinfall victory.
The fight did not end with the three-count.
The Hardys and The Nemeths continued brawling as tensions increased ahead of two important championship matches.
Jeff will challenge Nic for the TNA World Championship on the next edition of iMPACT. The two rivals were also scheduled to sign the contract for that match later in the August 6 broadcast.
Nic has never defeated Jeff in a singles match, placing additional pressure on the champion before their latest meeting.
The outcome could dramatically change the championship picture heading into Lockdown.
If Jeff defeats Nic, The Hardys could arrive at the pay-per-view holding both the TNA World Championship and the TNA World Tag Team Championship. Nic, meanwhile, could leave Lockdown as a double champion if The Nemeths defeat Matt and Jeff.
Lockdown will take place on August 23 in Chicago, with every match contested inside a steel cage.
The structure should prevent either team from escaping the fight, but the interference during Matt and Ryan’s match showed how far both sides are willing to go before reaching Chicago.
Matt earned the first decisive victory by pinning Ryan on iMPACT. Jeff and Nic now have the next opportunity to shift the rivalry when they fight for TNA’s top singles championship.
