Lola Vice is headed back into the NXT Women’s Championship picture.
The July 14 episode of NXT concluded with a high-stakes triple threat match as Lola Vice, Kelani Jordan, and Kali Armstrong battled to determine the next challenger for Kendal Grey’s NXT Women’s Championship.
Grey captured the title by defeating Vice at The Great American Bash, leaving the former champion determined to earn another opportunity.
All three competitors came into the match with something to prove, and the action reflected the moment’s importance.
Kelani Jordan and Kali Armstrong briefly worked together while Vice recovered on the outside, but the alliance didn’t last long as the match quickly returned to every woman for herself.
Near falls continued to pile up throughout the contest as the crowd split its support between Vice and Jordan. WWE also gave the competitors plenty of time to build the match, allowing the intensity to grow through multiple commercial breaks.
Late in the contest, the NXT Arena erupted with chants of “This is Awesome” as all three women exchanged strikes in the center of the ring.
Armstrong looked poised to win after connecting with the Kali Connection and another devastating move on Vice, forcing her to roll out of the ring.
That left Jordan and Armstrong to battle one-on-one. Jordan came within inches of victory during a series of dramatic near falls before climbing to the top rope and delivering a picture-perfect 450 Splash onto Armstrong.
Just as Jordan appeared ready to secure the victory, Vice returned.
Vice caught Jordan with a kick before stealing the pinfall on Armstrong, snatching the win at the last possible moment.
The victory officially makes Lola Vice the new No. 1 contender for the NXT Women’s Championship and sets up another showdown with Kendal Grey.
Vice fell short at The Great American Bash, but she now has a chance to reclaim the title after earning one more opportunity.
