WWE brings back two major tournament traditions starting next week.
Summary
– WWE announced the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments will return next week
– LA Knight revealed the news during the May 25 episode of RAW in Columbus
– The tournament winners will earn shots at top WWE championships
WWE is bringing back one of its most established tournament traditions, with King and Queen of the Ring set to begin next week.
LA Knight announced the May 25 episode of RAW from the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio. Knight received a strong reaction from the crowd before declaring his intent to win the tournament.
Jimmy Uso then joined him in the ring, adding another major name to the early conversation surrounding the tournament field.
The winners of the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments will earn championship opportunities. That raises the stakes for both brackets and gives WWE a clear path to build fresh title challengers.
The King of the Ring tournament has been part of WWE history since 1985 and became a major pay-per-view concept in 1993. Past winners include Bret Hart, Owen Hart, Triple H, Kurt Angle, Edge, Brock Lesnar, Booker T, Sheamus, Gunther, and Stone Cold Steve Austin.
The women’s side began in 2021 as the Queen’s Crown tournament, with Zelina Vega winning the first edition. WWE later shifted the name to Queen of the Ring, placing it alongside the men’s tournament branding.
The 2026 finals are scheduled for June 27 at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The tournament finals will take place alongside WWE Night of Champions.
