Summary
– Kevin Owens says he does not know how many years he has left in WWE
– Owens spent 17 months unsure whether he would ever wrestle again after neck surgery
– He now wants to enjoy every match instead of worrying about what comes next
Kevin Owens is back inside a WWE ring after spending 17 months wondering whether his wrestling career had already ended, and that experience has completely changed how he looks at the time he has left.
Speaking with FACES Magazine, Owens admitted he has no idea whether he has one, two, or five years remaining. After undergoing neck surgery and facing the possibility that he might never wrestle again, he said the pressure he once carried about constantly achieving more has largely disappeared.
Owens explained that much of his WWE career was driven by the feeling that he always had something else to prove. More success meant more financial security for his family, and that created a constant sense of responsibility that followed him throughout his run.
The time away from wrestling gave Owens a different perspective. He said he had already accomplished things he never imagined possible, but did not always stop long enough to appreciate those moments while they were happening.
That is something he does not want to repeat during this stage of his career. Owens now views every match and every WWE appearance as something he almost lost, which has made him more focused on enjoying the experience rather than worrying about how long it will continue.
Owens said he genuinely does not know how much time his body will give him. Instead of setting a retirement deadline, he wants to make the most of whatever time remains and eventually be able to look back without feeling that he wasted his final run thinking too far ahead.
His return has already placed him back near the top of WWE. Owens returned at SummerSlam, earned an Undisputed WWE Championship opportunity, and quickly renewed his long history with CM Punk.
The biggest difference now is his mindset. After spending well over a year unsure whether another match would ever happen, Owens is treating every opportunity as a gift and plans to enjoy the ride for as long as it lasts.
