Ember Lab needs additional time to complete its larger PS5 adventure
Summary
– Kena: Scars of Kosmora has officially moved into 2027
– Ember Lab is using the additional time to polish the expanded adventure
– The sequel will launch physically and digitally on PS5
Kena: Scars of Kosmora will no longer arrive in 2026 after Ember Lab moved the anticipated sequel into 2027.
The developer confirmed the delay on October 1, explaining that the additional development time will help the team polish the game and deliver a larger experience than Kena: Bridge of Spirits.
Scars of Kosmora remains scheduled for PlayStation 5 and PC. PS5 players will be able to purchase physical and digital editions, while the PC version will be distributed digitally.
The sequel remains a character-focused linear adventure, but Ember Lab is expanding its overall scope. Players who explore beyond the main path will discover additional locations, challenges, and secrets across the island of Kosmora.
Kena travels to the island after her childhood friend Orfio suggests it may hold answers connected to her past and future as a Spirit Guide. Her journey will explore how she helps living people with their pain while confronting the emotional wounds of her own.
Kosmora once contained four interconnected cultures, each associated with a guiding element. A mysterious disaster destroyed one of those societies, leaving ancient knowledge and dangerous secrets buried across the island.
Alchemystic Temples will serve as major dungeon environments. These locations will challenge the player’s abilities and provide transformative rewards that influence Kena’s journey.
Kena also gains a crystalline canine companion that serves as more than transportation. The spirit assists in both mounted and ground combat while helping to solve environmental puzzles throughout Kosmora.
Ember Lab has not announced an exact release date for 2027. The delay removes a notable PlayStation adventure from the remaining 2026 calendar, but it gives the studio more time to complete its expanded vision.
