Sawyer eventually connected with Sister Abigail and pinned Cogar to capture the GCW World Championship for the first time.
Sawyer is also known to WWE fans as former Superstar Joe Gacy before returning to the independent wrestling scene.
The loss ends Cogar’s championship reign after 267 days. He recorded 25 successful title defenses before Sawyer finally brought his run to an end.
Sawyer now holds the biggest championship in GCW, and the controversial circumstances surrounding his victory could quickly give potential challengers a reason to come after him.
