Summary
– Jade Cargill pushed back after fans called her viral wig moment a botch
– Cargill said the incident exposed ignorance about wigs, extensions, and wrestling culture
– She said online criticism will not stop her from embracing her confidence and success
Jade Cargill is not accepting the idea that every unexpected moment in wrestling should be called a botch.
During an appearance on the No Contest Wrestling Podcast with O’Shea Jackson Jr. and TJ Jefferson, Cargill addressed the viral moment when her wig came loose during a fatal four-way match with Charlotte Flair, Lyra Valkyria, and Asuka.
Cargill explained that her wig had been sewn on, but it still came off during the match. She said her ball cap coming off at the same time may have stopped fans from making even harsher jokes about her appearance.
The WWE star said the situation can serve as a teaching moment because many women in wrestling wear wigs, extensions, or other hairpieces as part of their presentation. She felt the online reaction showed how quickly fans can be to mock something they do not understand.
Cargill also pushed back on the use of the word ‘botch’ for the incident. She said her hair is part of her character and questioned why fans would treat a wardrobe or hair issue the same as a mistake in the ring.
She admitted the moment was embarrassing and left her angry and flustered during the match. Still, Cargill continued working and made it through the bout.
Cargill said fans are becoming too loose with the word ‘botch’ and suggested wrestling needs more common sense in how it is used. She pointed out that women in wrestling have long dealt with hair and wardrobe issues.
The conversation also touched on the online hate she receives. Cargill said being vulnerable with fans can backfire when people use those moments against her.
Rather than letting the criticism break her, Cargill said she is learning from it and leaning into the villain energy. She added that some fans may resent how much she has achieved in a short time, but she will not apologize for taking advantage of her opportunities.
Cargill made it clear that whether fans support, mock, or criticize her, they are still talking about her. For her, the attention only adds more fuel.
