Caviar’s luxury PlayStation 5 is limited to just nine consoles
Summary
– Caviar’s gold-plated PlayStation 5 costs $499,999
– Only nine of the luxury consoles will be produced
– The custom PS5 features 18-karat gold plating and matching alligator leather-style controllers
A gold-plated PlayStation 5 is now priced like a luxury car collection rather than a gaming console.
Caviar has revealed that its custom gold PS5 will cost $499,999. The company is known for creating extremely expensive luxury versions of tech products, including gold-covered iPhones.
The special console was first announced in January, but the price was not listed. Now, the number alone has become the biggest part of the story.
Only nine units will be made, making the console a rare collector’s item rather than a realistic gaming purchase for most PlayStation fans.
The custom PS5 features 18-karat gold plating. It also comes with matching controllers covered in alligator leather-style material.
Caviar said each console will take around four months to produce. The company also said it worked with a gold jewelry specialist to create a test sample for the design.
According to Caviar, around 1,500 people have already applied to buy one. That level of interest shows there is still a market for ultra-luxury gaming products, even at a half-million-dollar price.
The regular PlayStation 5 costs a tiny fraction of that price and should play games the same way. The difference here is the gold-covered shell, rare production run, and luxury branding.
For most players, the standard PS5 will do the job. For collectors with money to burn, Caviar’s gold-plated console is one of the most expensive PlayStation items ever offered.
