Jason Baker revealed the personal details behind Punk’s custom Toronto entrance mask
Summary
– Jason Baker created CM Punk’s custom goalie mask for his Toronto SmackDown entrance
– The mask featured actual paw prints from Punk’s late dog Larry
– Baker previously created WWE entrance masks for Rhea Ripley and Cody Rhodes
CM Punk’s goalie mask from the August 21 episode of WWE SmackDown carried a personal tribute that was not immediately obvious when he made his entrance in Toronto.
Mask creator Jason Baker revealed after the show that he designed the piece around Punk’s “Best in the World” identity. Baker shared footage of the finished mask and confirmed that the paw prints on the side were the actual prints of Punk’s late dog, Larry.
The design also included Chicago-style stars on the back, “Best in the World” lettering across the front, and several other details inspired by Punk. Baker credited Jolene Richardson for the jacket and gear Punk wore alongside the mask during the entrance.
Baker has previously created custom masks for other major WWE stars, including Rhea Ripley and Cody Rhodes. Punk became the latest wrestler to use one of Baker’s designs as part of a special television presentation.
Punk wore the mask before defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against Kevin Owens. With the match taking place in Canada and Owens challenging for the title in Toronto, the crowd was already firmly against Punk, making the unusual entrance gear even more noticeable.
The Larry tribute added another layer to the design once Baker explained its meaning. What initially appeared to be another personalized piece of Punk merchandise also served as a tribute to a dog that had been closely associated with him for years.
