Brie Bella has revealed the injury that sent her to the hospital following WWE SummerSlam 2026.
Bella confirmed on Instagram that she broke her scapula during her return match and will be sidelined for an undisclosed amount of time.
“Unfortunately, I’ll be out for a bit. I broke my scapula. Not sure how I finished that match, but I do believe between the adrenaline, passion for the business and the love for all the women I work with, it gave me the drive to finish,” Bella wrote.
The injury occurred when Jacy Jayne delivered a cannonball, driving Bella into the steel ring steps.
Bella immediately grabbed her right shoulder and had a noticeably smaller role throughout the remainder of the match.
Despite the injury, she managed to finish the contest and participate in the post-match betrayal of Paige. Nikki Bella handled most of the attack while Brie delivered one kick and continued clutching her shoulder.
The damage was serious enough to remove Bella from a scheduled SummerSlam TakeOver appearance in Minneapolis.
Fans who had purchased the affected photo opportunity were informed that she could no longer attend due to the injury.
Bella thanked everyone who contacted her while she was in the hospital and made it clear that she is already focused on recovering.
She joked that Buddy will serve as her assistant, Birdie will be her nurse, and Bryan Danielson will handle the cooking while she is sidelined.
“If there’s one thing I know about my sister and I, it’s that we don’t let broken bones stop us. Brie Mode always finds a way to come back to her wrestling home. Let the recovery begin,” Bella wrote.
WWE has not announced how long Bella is expected to remain out of action.
Her absence could affect The Bella Twins’ developing rivalry with Paige following their shocking heel turn at SummerSlam.
