Kia Stevens says the door is not closed

Summary

– Awesome Kong says she would consider wrestling again after getting back in shape

– Stevens revealed wrestling recently returned to her heart after years away

– She stressed that an in-ring comeback would not become her main focus

Awesome Kong has not ruled out stepping back into a wrestling ring, with Kia Stevens revealing that she would consider competing again if she can get herself back into ring shape.

Speaking on the No Contest Wrestling Podcast, Stevens explained that she had deliberately removed wrestling from her life for a period because she knew that watching or discussing it would make her want to return to it. She said she needed that separation to allow her body to heal and focus on herself away from the business. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}

Stevens said discovering the podcast gradually brought wrestling back into her life. What began with casually playing episodes eventually turned into following the current product again, and she credited that experience with helping remind her how much wrestling still means to her.

That renewed connection has also changed how Stevens views a possible comeback. She said she has not ruled out wrestling in her future and would return to the ring if someone helped her train and physically prepare for another run.

Stevens made it clear that wrestling would not become her primary focus again, but she is no longer shutting the door on competing. She estimated that two or three months of serious training could put her in a position where she believes she could still hang with top performers.

The former TNA Knockouts Champion also discussed approaching 50 and wanting women around her age to receive more respect. Stevens believes older women are often dismissed too quickly and remains confident that she could still perform at a high level with the proper preparation.

Even if another full-time run never happens, Stevens remains involved with wrestling through seminars and mentoring. She said she has conducted Zoom training sessions and continues to help younger wrestlers when promotions reach out for her expertise.

Stevens also reflected throughout the interview on her career in Japan, TNA, and WWE, including the circumstances that led to her becoming Amazing Kong, her memorable rivalry with Gail Kim, and her brief WWE run as Kharma. After years of keeping wrestling out of her personal life, she now says her passion for the business is back.
