Arianna Grace is heading to Great American Bash with a championship opportunity waiting for her.
On the June 23 episode of NXT, Grace defeated Izzi Dame in the finals of the Women’s Speed Tournament. The win made Grace the new number one contender to the Women’s Speed Championship.
The match came with the usual Speed pressure, as both competitors had only three minutes to get the job done. Izzi wasted no time at the opening bell, quickly trying to overwhelm Grace.
Dame used her size and power early, scoring multiple near falls while trying to put Grace away before the clock became a bigger factor. Grace survived the early attack and stayed in the fight as time ticked away.
The match also had plenty happening outside the ring. With The Culling and Birthright both tied to the situation, commentary noted that Wren Sinclair could face problems waiting for her, no matter who won.
Grace eventually created an opening with a pump kick and started firing back. Izzi answered with more offense of her own, turning the final into a quick and physical fight with very little room for mistakes.
Stacks tried to get involved at one point, but the interference backfired and did not help Grace as intended. That moment added to the chaos as the clock kept ticking down.
With less than a minute left, Dame looked ready to finish the match. Shawn Spears shouted instructions from ringside while Niko Vance tried to get involved in the moment, but the distraction opened the door for Grace.
Grace caught Izzi in an inside cradle and scored the three-count before time expired.
