Former NJPW star says WWE jump was about money, status, and fame
Summary
– NARAKU said he left NJPW for WWE because he wanted money, status, and fame
– The former EVIL said he felt he had already conquered Japanese wrestling
– His comments came after his WWE NXT debut and marriage announcement with IYO SKY
NARAKU is making it clear why he left NJPW for WWE.
The former EVIL recently spoke to Tokyo Sports about his move to WWE and said the decision was not simply because IYO SKY was already with the company. Instead, he said he felt he had already accomplished what he needed to in Japanese wrestling.
When asked why WWE became the next destination, NARAKU gave a blunt answer. He pointed to money, status, and fame as the reasons behind the move.
NARAKU made his first WWE NXT appearance during the April 28 episode by confronting Tony D’Angelo. He later received the NARAKU name and made his in-ring debut on the May 12 episode of NXT, where he defeated Lince Dorado.
The comments also came around the same time IYO SKY announced that she and NARAKU are married. SKY said the two now share the same stage in WWE after starting their careers in Japan.
NARAKU’s arrival gives NXT another international name with a major resume. His next challenge will be proving that his success in Japan can translate into WWE success.
