Women’s North American Champion survives chaotic fatal four-way match on NXT
Summary
– Zaria defended the Women’s North American Championship in an impromptu fatal four-way match
– Nikkita Lyons, Lizzy Rain, and Izzi Dame all came close to winning the title
– Jaida Parker helped Zaria survive a late attack and keep the championship
Zaria walked into NXT with three challengers in front of her and left with the Women’s North American Championship still around her waist.
The title match was added to the July 14 episode only about 20 minutes before it began. Zaria was forced to defend against Nikkita Lyons, Lizzy Rain, and Izzi Dame in a fatal four-way match.
Each challenger brought something different to the contest. Lyons relied on her power, Dame entered with momentum, and Rain looked to score the biggest victory of her career.
The match quickly turned chaotic, as no disqualifications or countouts could save the champion. All four women fought for control as the crowd reacted to several close calls.
Zaria had moments where she looked ready to finish the match, but every pinfall attempt was broken up. The same was true for the challengers, with each woman coming close to leaving with the title.
The action continued through a commercial break, giving the NXT women’s division time to deliver a competitive championship match.
Late in the contest, Zaria appeared in danger as the numbers began to work against her. Jaida Parker then ran down and stopped a double-team attack that could have ended the champion’s reign.
Nattie and Karmen Petrovic were also involved in the chaos before being fought off.
With the outside interference neutralized, Zaria found the opening she needed and secured the victory.
The win gave Zaria another successful title defense, but Jaida Parker’s involvement may become just as important as the result.
Zaria remains Women’s North American Champion, though the crowded title picture and Parker’s unexpected help leave several questions heading into next week.
