Tonga Loa And JC Mateo Exit WWE In Ongoing Roster Cuts

Two Bloodline-affiliated names depart as WWE continues major roster shake-up

Summary

– Tonga Loa and JC Mateo have both exited WWE as part of the latest roster cuts

– Loa was a key part of The Bloodline storyline while Mateo’s run lasted under a year

– Both were heavily tied to faction roles alongside Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga

WWE’s ongoing roster shake-up has claimed two more names, with Tonga Loa and JC Mateo both officially exiting the company.

Tonga Loa’s departure marks the end of a run closely tied to The Bloodline storyline. He debuted in May 2024 at Backlash France, aligning with Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga during a major shift in the faction following Roman Reigns’ absence.

As part of The Tongans, Loa became a consistent presence on WWE programming, working in key feuds against top names like Kevin Owens and Randy Orton. He was also recognized as a WWE Tag Team Champion during his run following a storyline development involving Jacob Fatu.

His time in WWE included participation in the Bloodline civil war, including the WarGames match at Survivor Series 2024. A torn bicep later sidelined him for months before he returned in 2025 at Night of Champions to rejoin Sikoa’s group, which evolved into the MFT faction.

JC Mateo’s exit comes less than a year after his WWE debut. His final appearance took place on the April 24 episode of SmackDown, where he teamed with Tama Tonga in a loss to Damian Priest and R-Truth.

Mateo debuted at Backlash 2025 by aligning with Solo Sikoa, immediately placing him within the same faction structure as Loa. Before joining WWE, he built an international reputation under the name Jeff Cobb, particularly in New Japan Pro-Wrestling as part of United Empire.

Despite that momentum, his WWE run remained relatively short and focused primarily on supporting roles within faction storylines.

With both Loa and Mateo now gone, WWE continues to reshape its roster, particularly among talent connected to The Bloodline and its extended factions.
