Tatum Paxley Backs WWE’s Athlete Signings

Tatum Paxley Defends WWE Recruiting Athletes Without Indie Experience

The former powerlifter says passion matters more than the route into wrestling.

Summary

– Tatum Paxley supports WWE recruits arriving without independent wrestling experience

– She believes lasting success requires a real love of wrestling

– Criticism of her background has not changed how she feels about her career

Tatum Paxley believes athletes can earn their place in WWE without first spending years on the independent circuit.

Asked about criticism of that route into wrestling, Paxley said she does not carry a chip on her shoulder. She argued that performers need to develop a genuine attachment to the work if they want to progress.

For Paxley, the success of athletes who make that transition reflects the passion they discover after arriving. She said criticism does not trouble her because she enjoys her career and the work she does.

Her own sporting background includes cheerleading and competitive powerlifting. WWE highlighted both disciplines during her early NXT appearances, including her preparation for the 2022 Women’s Breakout Tournament.

WWE has also established formal pathways for athletes from other sports. Its Next In Line program was launched to recruit and develop prospective performers from college athletics, providing another route toward professional wrestling.

Paxley’s argument centers on commitment once someone enters the profession. She sees enthusiasm for wrestling as the factor that allows an athlete to turn an opportunity into a career, rather than treating previous independent experience as a requirement for acceptance.
